Field summary

Healing, defense, and status-prevention biome; bouncy spore platforms, toxic clouds, Cleansing Mist timing, and honey as medicine and machine lubricant.

Survey notes

A cave system where the Engine's biological waste processing created ideal conditions for fungal growth. The bioluminescent mushrooms feed on Engine byproducts — their glow is literally powered by machine waste. Bear's community lives on sweet fungal honey, cultivates it for medicine and food, and treats the grotto as a quiet habitat rather than a mine.

The malfunction drives the growth exponential: mushrooms the size of trees, spore clouds with unpredictable effects, and a fungal network that has become a crude nervous system reacting to movement and sound. Meanwhile the machine city has begun extracting mycelial resins and honey — powerful lubricants — at habitat-threatening scale.

After the Foundry exposes the supply failure and Transit Hub restores the route, the branch comes here to recover the biological catalyst that lets machine repair stay alive. The grotto's answer is careful, non-extractive recovery: Cleansing Mist to heal corrupted fungi and helpers, shields for StickyRoot and grapple answers, honey as bear food, living medicine, and machine lubricant all at once. The Sporebound is what happens when defense itself gets corrupted — the biome resolves by healing, not stripping.
