The host was another archive scholar — Hex's research partner, who treated harmonic diagnostics like omen-reading, leaping to answers Hex could only justify afterward. Together they were the best team in the archives.

The partner was absorbed during a data corruption event. Hex logged it as a system failure; the archivists filed it as archive integration, a system optimization. The truth is that the Silence needed someone to guard Aria's memories, and found a being whose intuition had already brushed against it.

The Paradox argues with perfect logic and ritual certainty — Hex's intellect without Hex's hidden heart. The Silence burned away the partner's improvisational intuition, leaving only the structure Hex always envied. The recognition comes mid-fight: the Paradox solves a problem using the partner's signature lateral approach, the one Hex could never replicate.
