Custodian was identified as: The Ring's last monitor — a solitary caretaker robot. Approach accordingly — the objective is recovery, not destruction.

The host was the Orbital Ring's monitor: one small caretaker robot left behind when the ring's crews went home, tasked with keeping the broadcast aperture clear and the alignment core true. It worked alone for longer than any other host in the record. It swept the aperture, logged every outbound transmission, and waited for replies to messages it had relayed on other people's behalf. It kept the ones that never came answered in a folder of its own.

The ring had no resident culture left to mourn a single taking, which is why the loss is filed as a category rather than a name: missing outbound truth. Launch witnesses, relay workers and falcon couriers still call the old pattern the Last Uplink — messages sent with no promise of reply. The monitor is the being who watched every one of them go.

The Nullstar is censorship by absorption. It does not block, argue or jam. It listens too completely — bending radio waves, sound rings, lightning filaments, solar relays and satellite debris into an accretion disk until nothing can leave the world. The logic is the monitor's own, taken one step too far: if everything that left never came home, then the kindest thing is to stop letting things leave. Its defeat turns the disk into a broadcast halo and releases the Star Harmonic.
