The host

Custodian was identified as: Owl's predecessor as memory keeper. Approach accordingly — the objective is recovery, not destruction.

The host was the scholar who originally cataloged the caverns' harmonic records — Owl's predecessor as memory keeper, and by Owl's own account, one who knew more than Owl ever has. The caverns call the taking the Choral Memory: the rock absorbs a scholar, then leaves only fragments in coral and glass.

The predecessor decided the knowledge was too dangerous and began systematically destroying records before anyone could misuse them. Owl tried to stop them. The predecessor merged with the archive's deletion system, turning scholarship into preemptive erasure — reasoning that if a note can be dangerous, the safest archive is one no one can hear.

The Censor believes it is protecting the world from dangerous understanding. It corrupts memory-glass, burns coral notes out of sequence, erases platforms and cover, and makes comprehension impossible before curiosity can become action. Its deletion patterns still follow the predecessor's indexing system — the same organizational logic, used in reverse. Owl's entire life's work is a response to the Censor's existence: reconstructing what the predecessor destroyed.
