Field summary

Burst Dash across saltpan and dead canals; pump monoliths, mirage reads, quota gates, and the rare green line that remembers grass.

Survey notes

Long ago this was the Grassland Plateau, a verdant living sensor field where Hollowmere water moved through capillary pumps and grass-root transducers, and the plain literally sang because water, roots, and buried circuitry moved in rhythm. Farm Town's quotas and the Hoarder diverted too much of that water into sourcorn production. What remains is heat-cracked flat, silver-bleached dry grass, and the bones of canal machinery. Llama's ancestors herded here before the drying; Llama lost their homeland slowly enough that everyone learned to call it normal.

The malfunction reactivates the buried circulation unevenly. Some monoliths vent dry heat while others pull the last moisture toward Farm Town's overfed lines. Dead irrigation channels open and seal at the wrong times. And occasionally two pump towers sync up and produce one clear, heartbreaking green line across the dust — a memory of grass where only drought remains.

The Burden, a giant mechanical camel, holds the plain in thirsty endurance. Defeating it does not make the plateau verdant all at once. It sends the first Hollowmere water back into the stolen channels: damp canal beds, hairline green traces, small shoots around the pump towers. The plain is not healed yet, but Llama can finally hear that it is alive.
