Field summary

Post-boss secret fall into the world-before-the-Engine; lantern-radius navigation, Wayfinder-guided rescue, and alien light-language.

Survey notes

Below the Plasma Forge sits a layer older than the Engine itself: a primordial rock fault and living dark that predates everything. The Engine was built on top of the Abyss, but the Abyss existed first, and the Silence's indexing never reached it — the Silence is the Engine's program, and the Abyss is not part of the Engine. The only light is Volt's lantern radius, alien bioluminescence, and rare sparks where old copper conduits short against wet basalt.

A post-Nautilus bonus level hides breakable black-slate tiles; the floor collapses and drops the party safely into the dark. The Abyss is not broken, and it must not be repaired. Its danger is unreadability — the party's habit of treating dark space as empty space. Exposed to careful light, the same darkness blooms into prismatic mineral veins and strange life that speaks in an alien light-language. With Open Channel, the intent inside those pulses can be heard.

Clank's little sister fell into the Abyss years ago and survived with the aliens' help. The Wayfinder follows her signal down to a prismatic hollow where she has built a shelter from forge scrap and living crystal. There is no Controller here — only the revelation that the pre-Engine world was not absence but potential: the musical rest that made composition possible. The reward is Caesura, which carried into the final battle adds an extra rest between some of Aria's attacks.
