Field summary
Fixed-tempo rhythm biome in a metal-tree broadcast forest; beak-drummed cadence, long/short pulse-code routing, and rotating dish beams as rhythm hazards.
Survey notes
A cluster of the Engine's broadcast towers, built to transmit harmonics across the region, now grown into a metal forest: chrome antenna trunks, rusted iron lattice trees, vines threading the dish arrays. Woodpecker lives here as the thicket's drummer, tuner, and accidental musicologist, striking towers with their beak and cataloging the tones. Some tower pairs answer in long-and-short pulse codes that behave like musical Morse — route marks, warnings, and fragments of the Engine's message compressed into rhythm.
The towers should be emitting clean harmonic signals in shared rhythm. The Static suppresses them. The thicket leaks interference and broken fragments of the Engine's original music; some frequencies disorient, others force movement on the wrong beat. Occasionally a tower almost plays a clear note in tempo with its neighbors, then collapses into jammed noise before it can resolve.
The Static fight is about matching fixed-tempo beat patterns rather than changing tempo — discipline against noise. Spark's first relay assignment was here, and they still maintain the tower handoff from Ice Spire. When the feed is restored, the regional broadcast circuit lives again, and the signal has somewhere to go: up.
