The host was Dog's first travel partner — the companion who taught Dog how to guide people through Engine service lines, transfer platforms, freight schedules, and emergency detours. In the hub's bureaucratic framing, their taking was filed as permanent infrastructure reassignment. A form was filed. Nothing else.
They went alone into Transit Hub during an early schedule collapse and never returned. Dog searched for years, following a scent trail that moved between rails, elevators, and sealed route gates — as if the hub itself was walking.
The Leash turns guidance into captivity. Routes become tethers, schedules become commands, and every safe path closes into a loop. Dog's devotion is reflected back as possessiveness: no one gets lost because no one is allowed to leave. It still marks routes using the companion's old trail signs. Dog's nose confirms what Dog's heart already suspected.
